David Del Bonis

I serve professionals in the workplace;  leaders, managers and employees alike, in conflict resolution.  I teach techniques to ensure professional communication.  My audiences gain practical tools to control biases and perspectives, determine the best way to achieve objectives, use personal voice appropriately and thus solve problems with flexible and alternative thinking.  These are valuable skills in adjusting oneself and coordinating with others to prevent and resolve conflict within groups and amongst individuals.

Milestones on the Road to Deconflictional Intelligence

I attended a certified mediator course at the University of Rhode Island in the mid-1990s. Then I tested those mediation techniques in hundreds of situations while working the streets and
maintaining the peace as a police officer. Over the years, I've further educated myself in deconfliction and created my own expanded curriculum for working professio
nals. This intelligence is valuable when dealing with any person in any situation, and I am gratified to bring it to the public, benefiting workplace relationships.

About the Speaker

JuneCoverProof.jpeg

A career that spans over four decades in dealing with conflict and de-escalation in the real world. I started my military and law enforcement career over 44 years ago as a paratrooper with the United States Army and then joined the ranks of the Warwick, RI Police Department in 1985, serving in a plethora of positions such as SWAT, RI WMD Tactical Team, Firearms Instructor, and Patrol Operations and Field Training Instructor.  I was fully involved with all aspects of what I was doing as a police officer and loved every minute of it.  I retired in 2010, but before that, in 2007, I reenlisted with the US Army and was part of a Police Transition Team as the team’s operations NCO, conducting combat operations and police training.
After retiring, I served as a Captain at the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety & Municipal Police Training Academy. I was in the position of Basic Training Coordinator and was instrumental in revamping the basic training program in 2010. In this position, I supervised and led 100 to 150 personnel. In addition, I have developed and coordinated the state of Rhode Island's Basic SWAT Schools, Field Training Officer Certifications, Officer Survival Schools, Patrol Operations Classes, and De-escalation Classes.
Today, I truly enjoy bringing my expertise in deconfliction to the public via public speaking and my courses.  I travel the United States in a 38' RV with my wife and three children.  These are the happiest times of my life and I love being so close to my loved ones, exploring the beautiful landscape of North America.  In my free time, I enjoy hiking, socializing with locals and teaching my children valuable life skills.

Lasting Impressions

De-escalation techniques empower managers, supervisors, and coworkers to communicate and resolve concerns and issues, thus stopping problems from being taken out of context or escalating into significant labor issues. Utilizing these skills within an organization can help maintain and enhance productivity workflow while also preventing conflict, reducing stress, and minimizing the use of sick time by employees. In addition, intelligent communication skills create a safer, more harmonious work environment and reduce the likelihood of civil litigation.

Every contact with your employees, the public, and clients leaves a lasting impression on your business or you. It can significantly impact repeat business and the ability to generate new business and clients and earn respect.

Dignity, Respect, Empathy & Compassion

I highlight dignity, empathy, and compassion in my talks. It provides individuals with the necessary tools and skills to effectively and respectfully convey a message. Additionally, it prepares a person to communicate complex or sensitive issues to individuals who may not be receptive to the message. Finally, participants will learn specific techniques to de-escalate situations that may become intense, steering them into safer waters. These are the same techniques taught to law enforcement and security professionals, who routinely find themselves in volatile situations.

  • Reduce Personal Stress Surrounding Communication

  • Solve Problems Using Flexible and Alternative Thinking
